Welcome to 2D – a startup that is passionate about bringing the benefits of graphene to the wider world.
2D is a spin-out from the Technical University of Denmark and the Graphene Flagship based upon nearly a decade of research in large-area graphene production and quality control. Our story began almost 8 years ago when our founder, Abhay, started researching and developing the underlying technology in the group of Peter Bøggild and Tim Booth. The technology has since been scaled up to pilot-scale under the Graphene Flagship and subsequently patented.
Since then, we have raised almost 1 million USD to develop applications and commercialize the technology, allowing us to create a platform on which a host of future megatrend technologies can be built.
We are pioneers in large-scale roll-to-roll graphene production and in-line quality control, producing the first IEC standard on large-scale graphene quality mapping. We are also the only European provider of large-scale roll-to-roll graphene coming out of the Graphene Flagship. We have in-depth knowledge on the execution of this technology in in-line quality control, and we are dedicated to using this expertise to create high-quality products that can be used in a wide range of industries.
At 2D, we believe that science should not be relegated to the ivory towers of academia but should be accessible to the wider curious public. We want to break this ivory tower access and democratize access to these exotic materials, allowing the wider public to take part in cutting-edge science in their backyard. Our aim is to make graphene accessible and to use it in ways that were previously unimaginable to scientist minds.
In 2021, we showcased our research in a widely picked up article about large-scale graphene production (see caption link above). This is a testament to our commitment to making this material accessible and to using it in innovative ways. We are excited about the possibilities that graphene offers, and we are committed to working towards a future where graphene is widely used to benefit society.
